Jesus, his only Son, is the Son of God and the son of man. He came as the light of the world. He is the Word of God, kept for us as sacred Scripture. He was born of the Virgin Mary and became fully man.
At the age of thirty he was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. At that moment the Holy Spirit descended upon him, and he moved into a ministry of signs, wonders, and miracles, teaching his twelve disciples. At thirty-three he was brutally beaten and hung upon a cross, offering his body and his blood for our healing and the forgiveness of sin. He became our Savior, redeeming what was lost by the first Adam in the garden of Eden.
Jesus died on the cross and was raised three days later. He descended into hell and robbed Satan of the keys of life and death. He then revealed himself to his disciples and to many others for forty days. When he was raised, so too were we. He ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of Father God. Before he left, he directed his disciples and followers to wait in Jerusalem for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Biblical scholars estimate that Jesus fulfilled from 300 to 456 Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah’s coming, death, and resurrection. The four Gospels — Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John — are the foundational, historical account of his ministry.
